Rising Scholars, a partnership between Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) and CEO, supports selected AAPS students throughout their high school career, in order to increase enrollment of under-represented students in advanced placement/accelerated courses and prepare them for post-secondary education.
A new cohort of rising freshmen, from Huron, Pioneer and Skyline High Schools, are selected every academic year. Over the summer, they participate in a two week academic enrichment program led by AAPS teachers and U-M student leaders. During the school year, participants receive tutoring; mentorship; workshops in cultural enrichment, leadership development, and college and career preparation; service-learning opportunities and special field trips.
