Maximizing Academic Success

Maximizing Academic Success (MAS), a partnership between Monroe Public Schools and CEO, is an after-school educational enrichment program at Monroe Middle and High Schools. CEO’s student leaders mentor participants through weekly meetings and lessons, delivering a comprehensive college awareness curriculum covering topics such as:

  • study skills
  • personal and academic goal setting
  • how to prepare for college as middle and high schoolers
  • the importance of a college education
  • the opportunities a college education provides
  • career exploration
  • college terminology
  • searching for colleges
  • the college application process
  • financial aid
  • scholarship resources

Through visits to the Ann Arbor campus, participants are able to experience first-hand the opportunities provided by higher education. The program also works to involve parents by communicating the importance of higher education, providing tips on how to prepare their children for college, and promoting college education as an achievable goal.
