IMMAD

The purpose of Intellectual Minds Making a Difference (IMMAD) is to assist in the eradication of the academic achievement gap that has caused the disempowerment of underrepresented students in the State of Michigan. Our mission is twofold in that we also hope to create and foster a greater sense of solidarity amongst African American students on the U-M campus. It is our hope that through our programming we can push forth a greater understanding of the needs of the community we serve, and instill a greater sense of accountability in all who work through us.

IMMAD endeavors to accomplish its goals primarily through free ACT preparation, and extends additional assistance to helping high school students in southeastern Michigan prepare for post-secondary education. IMMAD works centrally at the University of Michigan’s Detroit Center, hosting Saturday academic sessions and additional social events for all high school students to attend.

It is also our goal to increase the college enrollment rates of students in the city of Detroit and to empower underrepresented students through the sharing and transfer of knowledge.
