Professors like Janie Paul (Art & Design), who works with arts outreach programs, and students like Christy McCartha, a volunteer with the Detroit Initiative, are featured here.
The U-M is also proud to have outstanding faculty and other professionals who are making a difference in the community. Dr. Crystal Holmes is one such person. Here, she answers questions about how she became an MD and gives advice to aspiring doctors about how to prepare for a career in medicine.

Crystal Holmes
Crystal Holmes is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine and Certified Wound Specialist, as well as a Clinical Instructor of Podiatry at the U-M’s Department of Medicine–Division of Metabolism Endocrinology and Diabetes. She divides her time between the U-M and VA hospitals.
